....The unbelievably beautiful and innovative yarns and patterns Wendy brought to Unwind inspired me. From the sophisticated simplicity of Americo Yarns to the brilliant colours of Koigu; from the comfort of the traditional Briggs and Little yarns to the luxury of Handmaiden and Fleece Artist, and all points in between Canadian made and dyed yarns have been the source of so many of my knitspirations. My knitting has been inspired and defined by pattern designers like Perl Grey, Lucy Neatby, Ilga Leja, Deb and Lynda Gemmell, Sally Melville, and Fiona Ellis. And to bring all of my yarn junkie, knit happy ways into perspective I have the made in Canada humour of the Yarnharlot's Blog and books. I've found so much to be proud of here in Canada, and now I'm letting my red and white, in the form of a stripped double knit scarf, hang out proudly for the world to see!
Born and raised in the wilds of Stittsville (that's right I said "Stittsville") on the outskirts of Ottawa I grew up surrounded by creative women. It wasn't until I landed in Newmarket, just a spit north of Toronto that I really started knitting. After a brief remember to knit (thank you Connie) at Unwind Yarn House, I jumped into the yarn world with both feet..hands. Wendy soon became my dealer, and, I, the yarn junkie.
